Hi All -
I recently installed two ventilation fans in an upstairs bathroom as part of an overall rehab effort – primarily to address some recurring mold and mildew issues we’ve had up there for a few years now. I have a video below showing the effort, in which I nearly tripled the evacuation capacity from 50 CFM (cubic feet per minute) to 140 CFM. This took only one focused morning to do once I was prepared for it – and it was really a surprisingly fun endeavor with lots of facets to the project overall.
I found one particularly critical item to be the environment. Since I was working in a very tight corner of my attic, temporary flooring and lighting were critical. As was having an unseasonably cool morning, giving me a nice 60-or-so degree temperature up there… not too common for summer in New Jersey!
